For most of us with cancer, just hearing the C-word sends chills up our spines. The thought of it creeping around inside our bodies is absolutely horrifying. Our loved ones tell us that all will be ok, but those words just bounce off our bodies and all that tends to stick is the fear...of this illness, of the medications, of the side effects, and of everything in between. For those of us who have to endure radiation and chemotherapy sessions, we are left feeling especially drained. Both physically and emotionally. The last thing we want to think about is how we look to the outside world.

The more dollars given to charity, the better! However, I do stop and wonder whether our charitable actions are motivated more by personal preferences or just really good marketing. In other words, do we choose our causes or do they choose us?
